Life Across America’s Larry Frederick Promotes Blood Donation at Paramus Donor Center As He Heads Home After Cross Country Bike Trip
July 31, 2010
Larry Frederick, blood recipient and long-time blood donation advocate, will visit Community Blood Services’ Paramus Donor Center on Saturday, July 31st to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood.
Larry is a former police officer and Vietnam Veteran from California who received 110 units of blood after being permanently disabled when he was hit by a DUI driver in 1982. He has been an ardent advocate of blood donation ever since.
In June, Larry began bicycling from California to New Hampshire to raise awareness of the need for blood donations, educate donors and encourage individuals to donate blood along the way. He will share that message with donors and others at our Paramus Donor Center, 970 Linwood Avenue West, this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.
At 11 a.m. there will be a special welcoming ceremony for Larry in the blood center’s conference room, complete with the Paramus Police Honor Guard and a Marine Corps bagpiper. Local police and firefighter representatives, as well as veterans, government officials and Eagle Scouts, are invited to make an appointment to donate blood and to stop by and hear Larry tell his story.
